Chapter 3 - The Shadow Moves

"Don't you dare touch him," Grace whispered frantically, dropping to her knees and wrapping her arms protectively around Noah's small waist, preparing to take the next blow for him.
But the blow never came.
"Daddy!" Noah cried out, his desperate, high-pitched voice shattering the tense silence of the penthouse. The little boy pointed a trembling finger directly at the blonde woman. "Vanessa hurt Mama Grace!"
Vanessa’s arm froze mid-air. Her heart skipped a violent beat.
She slowly turned her head toward the grand, shadowed corridor leading to the master suite. She had been absolutely certain he was in Colombia handling a cartel dispute. He wasn't supposed to be home for another three days.
From the heavy shadows of the hallway, a towering, heavily muscular figure stepped into the dying amber light of the sunset.
It was Damian. The 38-year-old undisputed king of the Miami underworld. He wore a sharp, custom-tailored black suit over an unbuttoned black dress shirt, exposing the faint lines of syndicate tattoos on his chest. His dark hair was perfectly styled, and a dark shadow of stubble lined his razor-sharp jaw.
Damian walked forward with the slow, terrifying grace of an apex predator. He didn't yell. He didn't rush. But the cold, lethal energy radiating from his dark eyes immediately plunged the temperature of the room to freezing.

He stopped directly behind the kneeling nanny and his terrified son, placing a large, warm, and intensely protective hand firmly onto Noah's small shoulder.
👉 Vanessa had just been caught red-handed by the most dangerous man in Florida, and her survival instincts were about to trigger a desperate lie.
