Chapter 6 - The Lethal Stare

Damian slowly stepped around Grace and Noah, placing his large, muscular frame completely between his family and the blonde woman in the emerald gown.
He stared directly at the red mark on the woman who had just saved his son from emotional and physical abuse. His dark eyes turned entirely black with a quiet, terrifying rage. The absolute, restrained emotion radiating from his face was infinitely more dangerous than if he had started screaming.
"She was shaking him, Damian!" Vanessa pleaded again, her voice cracking as she desperately pointed her diamond-covered finger at Grace. "You have to believe me! Look at her! She's a manipulative little rat!"
Damian’s jaw clenched. The muscles in his neck tightened visibly. He didn't reach for the weapon concealed under his black suit jacket. He didn't have to. His mere presence was a weapon.
"You brought your hand down on my family," Damian said.
His voice was deadly quiet. It didn't echo through the penthouse; it sliced through the air like a heavy, frozen blade.
Vanessa gasped, clutching her emerald necklace as if it could somehow protect her throat. "Your family? Damian, I am your family! We are getting married in three weeks! My father is your biggest ally!"
