Chapter 7 - The Hidden Truth

Vanessa took another terrified step backward, her green silk gown sweeping heavily across the gold-accented marble floors. She looked desperately toward the grand sweeping staircase, hoping her own bodyguards would rush up to save her. But the penthouse was dead silent. Her guards were nowhere to be found.

"She's just a servant!" Vanessa screamed, panic completely hijacking her nervous system. "You can't be serious! You're going to ruin our families' alliance over a maid who changes diapers?!"

Damian reached slowly into the inner pocket of his black suit jacket. He pulled out a sleek, encrypted smartphone.

"You think you walked into a private room, Vanessa," Damian said, his voice dropping into a chilling, mechanical calm. "You forgot who I am."

He tapped a single button on his screen.

Instantly, the massive, 85-inch flat-screen TV mounted on the marble wall flickered to life. The crystal-clear 4K security footage from the hidden biometric cameras filled the screen.

The audio played loudly, perfectly capturing Vanessa's vicious, echoing sneer: "Know your place, you pathetic nanny! I am the future lady of this house! When I tell you to pack his bags for boarding school, you do it without opening your mouth!"

Followed by the sickening, undeniable CRACK of Vanessa slapping Grace across the face.
