Chapter 2 - The Silent Approach

The cinematic tension in the grand ballroom spiked to a paralyzing level.

Before Gregory could hurl another insult, the crowd of wealthy guests silently parted.

Dominic, the thirty-eight-year-old billionaire CEO of the massive firm, walked aggressively across the polished marble floor. He wore a sharp black suit that accentuated his towering, muscular frame. His intense, dark eyes were locked entirely onto the trembling woman in the doorway.

Gregory turned around, his arrogant smirk instantly faltering as he realized his boss had witnessed the entire interaction. He immediately tried to do damage control.

"Dominic, sir, I was just handling this," Gregory stammered, stepping into the billionaire's path. "She showed up looking like a complete disaster. It's totally unprofessional for the gala—"

"Get out of my way," Dominic commanded. His voice wasn't loud, but it carried a freezing, lethal authority that instantly silenced the surrounding guests.

Gregory physically stumbled backward, all the color violently draining from his face.

Dominic didn't give the Director of Finance another second of his attention. He quickly closed the distance, stopping inches away from Norah. The intimidating CEO didn't look angry; he looked profoundly, intensely concerned.
