Chapter 5 - The Ultimate Sacrifice

Gregory, the arrogant Finance Director, immediately seized the opportunity to destroy Norah.

"I knew it!" Gregory shrieked loudly, pointing an aggressive finger at the injured junior analyst. "She attacked your mother, Dominic! She's a psychotic criminal! Have security throw her out the window right now!"

But Dominic didn't move. He didn't signal his guards.

He stared at the broken shoe in the evidence bag, and then he looked back at the beautiful, trembling woman in the torn velvet dress.

To understand the absolute insanity of the situation, one had to know what had happened three hours earlier.

Dominic’s mother, a fragile seventy-year-old woman suffering from early-stage dementia, had wandered away from her private security detail in the pouring rain. She had stepped blindly into a massive, busy downtown intersection exactly as a speeding delivery truck ran a red light.

Norah had been standing on the corner, on her way to the gala. She didn't know the elderly woman was a billionaire's mother. She just saw a helpless human being about to be crushed to death.

Without hesitating for a single microsecond, Norah had thrown herself directly into the path of the speeding truck. She violently shoved Mrs. Moretti out of the crosswalk, taking the brutal, glancing impact of the truck's bumper to her own ribs and ankle.

Norah had saved the matriarch's life, checked herself out of the trauma ward against medical advice, and dragged herself to the gala just to deliver a work file, completely unaware she had just saved the CEO's mother.

👉 Dominic realized the magnitude of her sacrifice, and his cold, billionaire heart completely shattered.
