"I'm not opening the bank portal, Garrett," Claire said, her voice carrying an unshakable, cinematic authority.

She leaned slightly closer to the phone resting on the table, ensuring the microphone picked up every single syllable in the quiet room.

"I just want to be absolutely clear," Claire stated, speaking with deliberate, legal precision. "You are demanding that I wire five hundred thousand dollars from my personal trust to your offshore holding company. And if I refuse, you are threatening to freeze my assets and systematically destroy my reputation. Is that correct?"

Garrett scoffed, rolling his eyes at his wife's sudden dramatic phrasing.

"Yes, Claire! Are you deaf?" Garrett yelled, completely blind to the trap closing around his throat. "I will absolutely ruin you if you don't send that money right now! You owe me! I am your husband!"

"And I fully support him," Vivian chimed in from the side, foolishly digging her own grave. "You're acting like a hysterical victim. It's just a business transaction."

Claire looked at her husband and her cruel mother-in-law. A subtle, cold smile finally touched the corner of her lips.
