Chapter 6 - The Perfect Miss

Blake didn't intend to spar. He intended to violently knock the older man unconscious in front of his son to prove his absolute dominance over the gym.
Blake exploded forward across the blue mat with terrifying, athletic speed. Utilizing his full weight and championship momentum, he launched his fastest, most devastating straight right punch, aiming his knuckles directly at the center of Damon’s face. It was a strike designed to end the fight instantly.
Damon barely moved.
He didn't flinch, he didn't throw his hands up to block, and he didn't step backward. He remained perfectly rooted to the mat, his dark eyes tracking the incoming fist with impossible, computer-like precision.
At the absolute, final, last possible microsecond before impact, Damon simply tilted his head a fraction of an inch to the side.
Blake’s devastating right fist sailed harmlessly past Damon’s cheek, missing the bone by less than an inch. The sheer, terrifyingly calm precision of the dodge completely defied the laws of traditional sport fighting. Damon hadn't just avoided the punch; he had let the champion completely overcommit to the strike.
Because he had missed a stationary target with full power, Blake’s massive forward momentum carried his entire body awkwardly and dangerously forward, completely breaking his perfect, balanced championship stance.
