Chapter 4 - The Golden Invitation

Victoria did not step back. Her slow eye movement scanned Richard’s panicked, sweating face, reading his profound cowardice perfectly.
"You're not going to call the police, Richard," Victoria said, her voice dropping into a deadly, confident cadence. "Because if you call the police, you'll have to explain to them how a convicted fugitive managed to get a VIP gold-foiled invitation to the most exclusive corporate merger of the decade."
Richard frowned in deep confusion. "What are you talking about? You’re a trespasser!"
With deliberate, agonizing slowness, Victoria reached into a small black clutch purse she had resting on a nearby cocktail table. She pulled out a thick, heavily embossed envelope and dropped it on the marble floor right at Richard’s feet.
It was a Level-One VIP access pass. The kind of pass that couldn't be bought, only issued directly by the board of directors.
"I didn't crash your little party," Victoria smiled coldly. "I was summoned. And not by you."
Samantha’s fake tears instantly stopped. A cold, suffocating dread began to wrap around her throat. She looked at Richard, her eyes silently begging him to fix this before the entire high-society crowd realized their billionaire facade was crumbling.

"Security!" Richard roared, waving frantically at the massive men in earpieces standing by the doors. "I don't care what piece of paper she forged! Get this lunatic out of my building right now!"
👉 The guards rushed forward to grab her, but a powerful voice from the shadows was about to freeze them in their tracks.
