Chapter 7 - The Flash Drive

The entire ballroom was so silent you could hear a pin drop. The older guests clutching their champagne glasses leaned in, morbidly fascinated by the brutal destruction of a billionaire.

"That... that's impossible!" Samantha shrieked, her voice cracking. "You're lying! We hold the patents!"

Victoria reached into her clutch one final time. She didn't pull out a piece of paper. She pulled out a small, sleek, heavily encrypted flash drive.

"You hold the forged patents, Samantha," Victoria corrected calmly. "Three years ago, you two drugged my wine, used my biometric thumbprint to unlock my private server, and transferred the ownership to yourselves. Then, you framed me for the missing funds you used to pay off the notary."

Richard stumbled backward, looking physically sick. "You have no proof. It's your word against mine, and I have a dozen lawyers!"

Victoria handed the flash drive to Arthur Sterling.

"I didn't just write the algorithm, Richard," Victoria whispered, her voice dark and victorious. "I built the security protocols. The night you stole my company, the server’s internal microphone was passively recording the room. It activated the second my thumbprint was logged under duress."

Arthur Sterling held up a small tablet, plugging the flash drive directly into the port.

"Would you like to hear yourselves plotting a felony in high definition, Richard?" Arthur asked coldly. "Because the FBI agents waiting in the lobby already have a copy."

👉 The trap had violently snapped shut, and the cowardly husband was about to turn on his mistress to save his own skin.
