Chapter 10 - The Ghost's Resurrection

Mark walked over to Samantha, wrapping his strong arm protectively around her waist.
He didn't care about the shattered windows or the ruined dinner party. He looked at the brave, exceptionally disciplined woman who had finally confronted the demons that had haunted her for five years.
"Are you okay?" Mark asked softly, his intense gaze entirely focused on her.
Samantha looked down at her gold wings, a profound, overwhelming sense of relief finally washing over her soul. The suffocating weight of the lies, the trauma, and the hiding was permanently gone. Her name was cleared. Her enemy was locked in a federal cell.
She looked up at Mark, and for the first time in a very long time, a genuine, beautiful smile touched her lips.
"I'm finally home," Samantha whispered.
They walked out of the ruined dining room together, leaving the terrified, awe-struck family behind. They stepped out into the cool night air, the flashing red and blue lights reflecting off the driveway.
Samantha Foster was no longer a ghost hiding in the shadows. She was an elite Commander, a survivor, and a woman who had brought a billionaire's tactical strike force to a formal dinner just to ensure absolute justice was served.
