Chapter 3 - The Ghost

The sound of the shattering glass made several wealthy guests physically jump in their seats.
"Ghost One?" Chad echoed, his arrogant facade completely crumbling into terrified confusion. "That’s impossible. Ghost One was an elite stealth aviator who was shot down over hostile territory five years ago. There were no survivors. The Pentagon held a closed-casket funeral."
"They buried an empty box, Chad," Samantha stated coldly, not taking her eyes off the trembling Admiral.
Mark instinctively shifted his chair closer to Samantha, his athletic build tensing as he prepared to defend the woman he loved. He finally understood why Samantha woke up screaming in the middle of the night, haunted by nightmares she could never legally speak about.
Admiral Harrison’s chest heaved. The most feared, respected naval commander in the room looked like he was about to suffer a massive heart attack.
Five years ago, Samantha Foster had been the Navy's most lethal, highly classified pilot. She had been sent on a black-ops mission directly ordered by Admiral Harrison—an illegal, off-the-books strike that went catastrophically wrong. When her jet took heavy fire and she requested immediate extraction, Harrison had denied it.
He had intentionally left her behind enemy lines to burn, erasing her existence to cover up his own treasonous operation.
"This is a mistake," Admiral Harrison choked out, desperately trying to maintain his authoritative composure. He stood up, his colorful military medals clinking against his black dress uniform. "You are an imposter. Samantha Foster was KIA."

"I survived the crash," Samantha whispered, her voice dropping into a lethal register. "I survived the desert. I survived the torture camp. And I survived the three years it took me to claw my way back to America under a new identity."
👉 Admiral Harrison realized his greatest sin had just come back from the dead, and his desperate panic was about to turn violent.
