Chapter 5 - The Flight Recorder

"You have no proof!" Admiral Harrison roared, saliva flying from his lips as he completely abandoned his dignified, heroic persona. "I am a Vice Admiral! I have the ear of the Secretary of Defense! You are a ghost! You don't exist!"

Samantha’s delicate, delicate facial features remained perfectly still. She slowly unclasped her silver clutch.

She reached inside and pulled out two objects, placing them directly onto the pristine white tablecloth.

The first was a pair of tarnished, battle-scarred gold Navy pilot wings—engraved with the classified insignia of her elite squadron.

The second was a heavy, encrypted black flash drive.

"When I dragged myself out of the burning wreckage of my jet," Samantha explained, her voice cutting through the silent room like a scalpel, "I didn't just save my own life. I ripped the data core from the flight recorder. It contains the raw audio of you denying my extraction, and the radar data proving you sent me off-grid to protect your own illegal smuggling route."

Chad stared at the gold wings on the table. The arrogant officer’s knees began to visibly shake as he realized the woman he had just mocked was a highly decorated war hero who had survived literal hell.

"You're... you're really Ghost One," Chad whispered, his smugness completely evaporating into sheer, humiliating awe.

"Give me that drive," Admiral Harrison growled, stepping threateningly toward the table, his fists clenched. "Give it to me right now, or I swear to God, you will vanish permanently this time."

Samantha looked up at him, her striking blue eyes turning into pure, freezing ice.

"No," Samantha replied.

👉 The Admiral realized he was completely cornered, and his desperate order to his loyal guards was about to ignite a war.
