Chapter 1 - The Cruel Ultimatum

The grand luxury gala was supposed to be the crowning moment of the season. Beneath towering crystal chandeliers that bathed the ballroom in a warm, golden cinematic light, high-society guests in tailored tuxedos clinked champagne glasses. But hidden behind a row of elegant gold chairs near the velvet curtains, a terrifying medical emergency was unfolding on the cold marble floor.

Sophie, a young woman wearing a classic black and white maid uniform, was sobbing hysterically. Her hair was tied back neatly, but her face was completely flushed with panic as she knelt on the hard stone, desperately holding the weight of an elderly woman in her arms.

The older woman, in her late seventies with short grey hair, looked incredibly frail. She was dressed in an elegant dark blue dress with a heavy pearl necklace, but her head was slumping violently against Sophie’s shoulder. Her breathing was a horrific, ragged wheeze.

But the most alarming detail wasn't just her breathing. The left side of the older woman’s face was severely drooping, completely unresponsive, and a massive, dark purple bruise was swelling rapidly around her left eye.

"Please!" Sophie begged, her tears spilling onto her white apron. She reached frantically into her pocket, pulling out her smartphone with trembling fingers.

Before she could even dial the first number, a sharp, manicured hand shot out and violently snatched the phone from her grip.

Vivian towered over them. The striking woman in her thirties wore a breathtaking off-the-shoulder red silk evening gown that clung to her figure. Heavy diamond earrings caught the chandelier light as she looked down with a cold, arrogant, and unimaginably cruel expression.
