Chapter 2 - The Red Dress and the Black Heart

"What are you doing?!" Sophie cried out, looking up at Vivian in sheer disbelief. She tightened her grip on the elderly woman, trying to keep her airway open. "Her face is drooping! She's completely unresponsive! She's having a stroke!"
Vivian didn't even flinch. She crossed her arms over her red silk gown, looking at the dying woman with absolute disgust.
"She is ruining my gala," Vivian snapped, glancing nervously over her shoulder to make sure none of the billionaire guests were watching. "This is the most important night of my life. My fiancé is about to formally introduce me to his business partners. I am not having a horde of loud paramedics storming through my ballroom with stretchers just because some clumsy old hag had a dizzy spell."
"She's dying!" Sophie pleaded, extending a shaking hand. "Give me back my phone! If she doesn't get oxygen right now, her brain damage will be permanent!"
Vivian scoffed, casually tossing the smartphone onto an empty gold chair just out of the maid's reach.
"You are a nobody wearing a polyester uniform," Vivian sneered, stepping closer so the heavy silk of her red gown brushed against Sophie’s trembling knees. "If you make a scene, I will personally ensure you are blacklisted from every catering company in this city. Prop her up in the chair, splash some water on her face, and keep your mouth shut until the party is over."
