Chapter 5 - The Demonic Shift

The silence that fell over their hidden corner of the ballroom was suffocating.

Marcus completely froze. The air in his lungs turned to absolute ice. His large, tattooed hands remained gently holding the dying woman, but the rest of his body turned as rigid as stone.

He slowly, agonizingly turned his head.

His cinematic, terrifying gaze shifted upward, locking directly onto Vivian. The woman in the red silk gown had taken a small step backward, her diamond earrings shaking as she realized the dynamic in the room had just violently flipped.

There was no dialogue for three agonizing seconds. Just the quiet, rattling breaths of the stroke victim.

Marcus looked at Vivian with a stunned expression that rapidly, dangerously morphed into extreme, unhinged anger. The veins in his tattooed neck bulged. The devastatingly handsome boss looked like a demon clawing its way out of hell.

Vivian swallowed hard, trying to maintain her aristocratic composure. She forced a nervous, condescending smile, completely misreading the apocalyptic rage building in her fiancé's dark eyes.

"Marcus, darling, it's not a big deal," Vivian stammered, waving her hand dismissively. "The maid is overreacting. This old woman just wandered in from the lobby and had a dizzy spell. I didn't want the paramedics ruining our engagement gala over some random stray."

👉 Vivian thought she was protecting their perfect night, but her toxic arrogance was about to trigger an explosive confrontation.
