Chapter 4 - The Frantic Confession

Marcus crashed to his knees, not caring that the hard marble floor scuffed his tailored black suit pants.
His heart hammered violently against his ribs. The ruthless, terrifying mafia boss reached out with trembling, heavily tattooed hands, gently gripping the older woman’s shoulders to support her weight alongside the crying maid.
He saw her slumping head. He saw the terrifying droop on the left side of her face. His medical instincts, honed by decades of surviving the brutal underworld, instantly diagnosed the catastrophic emergency.
He didn't look at Vivian. He locked his intense, desperate gaze onto the terrified maid in the black and white uniform.
"Sophie, call 911. Now," Marcus commanded, his deep voice carrying a terrifying, urgent authority that left absolutely no room for hesitation.
Sophie didn't reach for her pocket. She couldn't. She just clutched the elderly woman tighter, her chest heaving with frustrated, hysterical sobs. She looked up at the terrifying mafia boss, her face completely streaked with tears and ruined makeup.
"I tried!" Sophie sobbed, her voice cracking in pure, unadulterated desperation. She pointed a trembling finger at the smartphone sitting completely out of reach on the gold chair.
Marcus frowned, his brow furrowing in deep confusion. "What do you mean you tried? Pick up the phone!"
Sophie shook her head violently, squeezing her eyes shut.
