Chapter 10 - The True Family

The chaotic, violent energy was entirely dragged out of the luxury penthouse.
Lucas ordered the rest of the terrified, wealthy socialites to leave his home immediately. Within two minutes, the grand living room was completely empty, leaving only the soft glow of the crystal chandeliers reflecting off the polished marble.
Lucas slowly turned around. The cold, terrifying apex predator completely vanished.
He walked across the room and dropped to his knees right in front of Hannah. The young nanny was sitting on the edge of the piano bench, holding Matteo tightly in her arms. The five-year-old boy had his face buried in her neck, completely safe and fiercely protected.
Lucas didn't care about his expensive suit. He gently reached out, his tattooed hand softly cupping Hannah's uninjured cheek, his thumb brushing away a single, stray tear.
"I am so sorry I didn't protect you," Lucas whispered, his deep voice thick with profound, overwhelming emotion.
Hannah leaned into his touch, her green eyes shining with undeniable love. "You believed me. That's all that matters."
Lucas looked at his son, and then back at the beautiful woman who had saved them both. He didn't just want her as an employee. He needed her as his equal, his partner, and the absolute queen of his empire.
"You aren't a nanny anymore, Hannah," Lucas said softly, leaning in to press a gentle, lingering kiss to her forehead. "You are the mother of my son. And you are going to be my wife."
Hannah smiled brilliantly, knowing she had survived the absolute worst betrayal imaginable and emerged completely, undeniably victorious.
