Chapter 5 - The Public Humiliation
The cinematic tension in the luxury penthouse spiked to an absolutely suffocating, paralyzing level.
"Search the staff!" Eleanor commanded loudly, stepping to the center of the marble floor, taking advantage of the sudden chaos. "A five-million-dollar diamond doesn't just walk away! It was stolen by someone desperate for cash!"
Before Lucas could intervene, Eleanor’s private, heavily bribed security guard marched directly over to Hannah. Without a shred of respect, he violently grabbed the young nanny by the arm, dragging her into the center of the grand living room under the blinding light of the crystal chandeliers.
"Take your hands off her!" Lucas roared, his deep voice shaking the glass windows.
But it was too late. The corrupt guard aggressively plunged his hand into the deep pocket of Hannah’s modest green dress. With a triumphant, cruel smirk, he pulled his hand out and held it high in the air for the entire room of wealthy elites to see.
Gleaming perfectly in the guard's fingers was Victoria’s massive, five-million-dollar diamond ring.
The wealthy women in their elegant evening gowns let out a collective, horrifying gasp. They immediately began to hurl vicious, toxic insults at the trembling young woman.
"I knew it!" Victoria shrieked hysterically, marching up to Hannah.
Without a single microsecond of hesitation, Victoria raised her hand and violently slapped Hannah across the face. The brutal, agonizing crack echoed loudly through the room. Hannah physically staggered backward, collapsing onto the cold marble floor, her cheek burning with intense, fiery pain.
Matteo let out a terrified, heartbroken scream, desperately trying to run to his nanny, but one of the cruel socialites blocked his path.
