Chapter 3 - The Physical Disrespect

Mark didn't look guilty about his wife screaming at his mother. He looked entirely burdened by Eleanor's presence. The tension in his broad shoulders was palpable, his jaw clenched in frustration.
"We don't have the space or the patience for this right now, Mom," Mark sneered, stepping directly into Eleanor’s personal space.
With a sudden, violently aggressive motion, Mark reached out and snatched the brown leather tote bag right out of his frail mother's hands.
The physical force of the grab made Eleanor stumble slightly against the white cabinets. Mark didn't even check to see if she was okay. He carelessly hurled the heavy leather bag onto the pristine white marble countertop.
The loud, heavy thud of the bag hitting the stone echoed like a gunshot through the quiet, sunlit kitchen.
Eleanor didn't scream. She didn't cry.

👉 Mark thought he had successfully intimidated his mother, but he had absolutely no idea what he had just awakened.
