Chapter 5 - The Eviction Order

"Grab your keys and go wait outside," Mark demanded, rubbing his temples in extreme annoyance as he turned his back on her. "I'll book you a cheap motel down the highway for the night. You can come back tomorrow afternoon when Claire is ready to deal with you."
Claire smirked triumphantly from the background, satisfied that she had successfully kicked her mother-in-law out of the luxurious oceanfront property.
Eleanor didn't move toward the door.

"I said go outside, Mom," Mark repeated harshly, turning back around, entirely out of patience.
Eleanor completely ignored him. With slow, deliberate, and terrifyingly calm movements, she reached her hand deep into the brown leather tote bag.
Claire rolled her eyes. "She's probably going to dramatically pack her little groceries back up."
