Chapter 10 - The Unbreakable Vow

The next morning, the grand mansion was entirely peaceful. The blood had been cleaned, the traitors had been erased, and the heavy, dark atmosphere was completely gone.

Bright, beautiful sunlight poured through the massive windows of the grand hallway, illuminating the highly reflective marble floors and the crystal chandeliers.

Cassian walked down the hallway, wearing a clean, crisp black shirt, the bird tattoo on his neck visible. A genuine, warm smile rested on his handsome face.

He walked into the sunlit breakfast room. Elena was sitting at the table, wearing a beautiful, elegant dress, looking radiant and safe. She was drinking coffee, laughing softly.

Sitting next to her, eating a massive plate of pancakes, was little Rosa, still wearing her bright yellow bow.

When Rosa saw Cassian, she immediately dropped her fork. She hopped out of her chair, ran across the room, and threw her tiny arms around Cassian’s leg, hugging him tightly.

Cassian chuckled, effortlessly scooping the three-year-old girl up into his strong, tattooed arms.

"Good morning, piccola," Cassian smiled, kissing her forehead.

"Good morning, Cassian," Rosa beamed, completely unafraid of the most dangerous man in the city.

Cassian looked at Elena, and for the first time in his violent life, he felt a genuine, unshakeable peace. He had lost his closest friend to treason, but he had found something infinitely more valuable in the ashes of the betrayal—a true family to protect.

The nightmare was over, and the fearless little girl had finally found a monster strong enough to keep all the other monsters away.

Do you think Vincent deserved to be dropped in the ocean, or should Cassian have kept him alive in the cellar to suffer?
