Chapter 5 - The One Bullet

Cassian didn't kick the door open. He didn't shout a dramatic warning.
He simply stepped out of the shadows and walked directly into the harsh light of the room.
Vincent froze, his hand still gripping Elena’s chin. The arrogant, triumphant smile violently slid off his face. When he saw Cassian standing there, alive, covered in blood, and radiating absolute, demonic fury, all the blood drained from Vincent’s face. He looked like he had just seen the devil himself.
"Cassian!" Vincent gasped, stumbling backward in pure, unadulterated terror. He frantically raised his suppressed pistol.
Cassian didn't flinch. He didn't dive for cover.
He raised his own weapon. He knew he only had exactly one bullet left in the chamber. He didn't aim for Vincent's chest. He didn't aim for his head.
BANG.
Cassian fired his single shot.
The bullet struck Vincent’s right hand with devastating, bone-shattering precision.
Vincent let out a horrific, blood-curdling scream as his pistol flew across the room, clattering uselessly into the dark corners of the cellar. The heavy gold Rolex on his wrist was splattered with his own blood. He collapsed to his knees on the concrete floor, clutching his mangled, ruined hand, sobbing in absolute agony.
Cassian tossed his empty gun aside. He walked slowly toward the weeping, pathetic traitor.
"You brought assassins into my home," Cassian whispered, his voice echoing off the concrete walls. "But that isn't why you're going to die today, Vincent."
