Chapter 6 - The Blocked Escape

"I am calling my lawyer!" Victoria wailed hysterically, her hands trembling violently as she pulled a sleek smartphone from her designer purse. "You are completely paranoid, Arthur! I am leaving this psychotic house right now!"

Victoria turned on her expensive heels and sprinted toward the massive, heavy mahogany front doors of the mansion. She grabbed the brass handle, desperately trying to yank it open and escape to her luxury sports car.

The door didn't budge. It was electronically deadbolted from the outside.

"Open the door!" Victoria screamed, pounding her manicured fists against the solid wood.

Arthur stood perfectly calm in the center of the hallway, watching her completely humiliate herself.

"You aren't going anywhere, Victoria," Arthur announced flawlessly, his voice booming with absolute, unquestionable authority. "My security team has completely locked down the perimeter. And your lawyer can't help you, because I just had my corporate attorneys freeze every single asset attached to your name."

Victoria spun around, her face twisted into a horrific mask of pure, apocalyptic terror. The realization that she was entirely trapped, penniless, and caught in a massive federal crime finally hit her with the force of a freight train.

"Arthur, please!" Victoria sobbed frantically, dropping to her knees on the cold, highly reflective marble floor. Her heavy diamond necklace scraped against the stone. "I only did it because I was scared! We signed a prenuptial agreement! I wanted a safety net! I love you!"

"You don't love anyone but yourself," Arthur replied coldly, entirely devoid of human mercy.

Suddenly, the heavy mahogany doors clicked. They swung open from the outside, flooding the elegant hallway with bright, blinding sunlight.

👉 But it wasn't the security team coming to let her out; it was the ultimate consequence walking in.
