Chapter 9 - The Rightful Mother

The chaotic, frantic energy completely evaporated from the estate.

Vincent stood by the mahogany table, letting out a long, shuddering breath. The heavy, agonizing weight of the betrayal was finally lifted. He had his answers. He had his justice.

He looked at Anna. She was still wearing her black and white maid uniform, trembling from the explosive violence she had just witnessed.

Vincent ignored his expensive suit and walked over to the highchair. He gently unbuckled little Noah and lifted the blonde-haired baby into his strong arms.

He walked over to Anna and gently, carefully placed the baby directly into her arms.

Anna collapsed to her knees, holding her son tightly against her chest, burying her face in his cream sweater, breaking down into heavy, beautiful sobs of pure, unadulterated relief. The nightmare was finally over. She didn't have to hide in the shadows anymore.

"Thank you," Anna wept, looking up at the towering billionaire. "Thank you for believing me."

"I am the one who is sorry, Anna," Vincent said softly, his voice thick with genuine emotion. "I failed to protect you. I let monsters use my name to hurt you."

Vincent dropped to one knee right beside her on the polished floor.
