Chapter 3 - The Secret Blackmail

Eleanor had accidentally discovered the absolute, horrifying truth just two weeks before the wedding.
While looking for old photo albums in the estate's security archive room, Eleanor stumbled upon an unencrypted backup drive containing hidden dashcam and hallway footage from the night Lucas's mother vanished. The video exposed Claire sneaking into the master suite, drugging her own sister—yes, Claire was secretly the estranged younger sister of the missing wife—and dragging her unconscious body out to a waiting vehicle.
Eleanor had been physically sick to her stomach. She immediately went to expose the murderous monster to her son.
Before Eleanor could utter a single word, Claire intercepted her in the private study, revealing a level of cold, calculated cruelty that chilled the grandmother to her absolute core.
Claire didn't deny the murder. Instead, she calmly pulled out her smartphone and showed Eleanor a live-feed video of seven-year-old Lucas sitting quietly in his classroom, surrounded by other children, completely unaware that a hired professional gunman was stationed outside the school window with a high-powered rifle.
"You can tell your son whatever you want, Eleanor," Claire had whispered, her voice dripping with venomous, psychotic calm. "You can ruin my wedding. But the absolute second you open your mouth, the sniper pulls the trigger. You will live to watch your precious grandson die in a pool of blood."
Eleanor was completely, hopelessly checkmated. She was forced to swallow her immense grief, wear a slate blue dress to the wedding, and play the role of the happy, supportive grandmother, entirely trapped inside a golden cage of terrifying blackmail.

She thought she was the only one suffering in silence. She had completely underestimated the razor-sharp mind of a seven-year-old boy who refused to let his mother's murder go unpunished.
