Chapter 8 - The Admiral's Coat

The chaotic, violent energy completely evaporated from the luxury beach club.

Admiral Vance completely bypassed the arrogance of his immense wealth and power. He didn't care about the shattered champagne glasses. He unbuttoned his own pristine, heavy white Navy dress coat, covered in medals of valor.

He gently stepped forward and draped his own coat over Harper’s shoulders, perfectly hiding her torn shirt and her battle scars from the cool ocean breeze.

"You don't serve drinks anymore, soldier," the Admiral stated smoothly, a fierce, protective warmth filling his eyes.

Harper clutched the heavy white coat around her chest. The silent, agonizing shame she had carried for five years completely, permanently washed away. She wasn't a broken, forgotten failure. She was a deeply respected, heavily protected hero.

"I'm arranging a full military pension, immediate backpay, and the Medal of Valor," the Admiral promised quietly, a fierce, unbreakable vow. "You will never have to struggle for another day in your life. You are completely protected by this fleet."

Harper burst into genuine tears of absolute, overwhelming joy and relief. She had spent five years terrified of her scars, and now, they were recognized as the ultimate badge of honor.
