Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Protector

The chaotic, violent energy completely evaporated from the magnificent mansion.
Daniel ordered his security team to dismiss the guests and clear the estate. Within an hour, the massive house was perfectly quiet.
Daniel walked slowly up the grand marble staircase and unlocked the door to his private office. Lily was sitting on the leather sofa, her silver tiara slightly crooked, still holding her pink floral handbag.
When she saw her father, she jumped up and ran into his arms.
Daniel didn't care about his expensive suit. He dropped to his knees on the carpet, burying his face in his daughter's golden-blonde curls. For the first time since his wife died two years ago, the cold, intimidating billionaire openly wept.
“You are so brave, Lily,” Daniel choked out, his massive arms wrapping fiercely around her tiny frame. “You saved us. You saved Daddy.”
“Is the mean lady gone?” Lily whispered innocently.
“She is gone forever,” Daniel vowed, the absolute power of his empire backing every single syllable. “Nobody will ever, ever yell at you or try to hurt you again. I promise you, princess.”
He gently took Sarah’s sapphire ring from his pocket and placed it safely inside Lily’s pink handbag, snapping the gold clasp shut. It belonged to her now.

Victoria was sentenced to life in a federal penitentiary, entirely bankrupt and forgotten. Daniel completely purged his life of the toxic elite, focusing entirely on raising the brave little girl who had brought a monster to justice with nothing but a game of hide-and-seek.
If you were Daniel, would you have handed the burner phone to the police, or was completely bankrupting her family the ultimate, perfect revenge?
