Chapter 6 - The Digital Guillotine

The burner phone flickered to life. There was no passcode lock.
Daniel opened the messaging app. There was only one active text thread, entirely filled with communications to an unregistered offshore number.
The cinematic tension peaked as Daniel scrolled through the messages. His sharp masculine jawline locked. His eyes turned entirely pitch black, completely stripped of any human mercy.
“The brakes on the SUV are cut. The wife won't survive the mountain pass. Transfer the remaining fifty thousand to my account.”
That text was dated exactly two years ago. The night Sarah died.
Daniel’s blood turned to absolute ice. He continued scrolling down to the messages sent just this morning—the exact conversation Lily had overheard from under the vanity.
“The wedding is today,” Victoria had texted the assassin. “The billionaire trusts me. Next week during the honeymoon, I need you to stage an abduction for the five-year-old brat. I want her gone permanently. I will not share his estate with a child.”
Daniel slowly lowered the phone. The sheer, unfathomable evil standing in front of him in a white wedding dress was suffocating. She hadn't just murdered the love of his life to steal her place. She was actively plotting to slaughter his innocent daughter to secure his billions.
Victoria saw the terrifying, dead look in his eyes. She knew he had read the texts.
