Chapter 2 - The Blocked Strike

Daniel didn't ask questions. He stormed down the sweeping marble staircase with terrifying, ground-shaking speed.
His sharp, masculine jawline tightened, and his piercing dark eyes blazed with lethal fury. He rushed directly between Victoria and his weeping daughter, using his broad, heavily muscular body as an impenetrable human shield.
Victoria physically recoiled in shock, her arrogant, confident expression instantly collapsing into panic.
“VICTORIA! STAY AWAY FROM MY DAUGHTER!” Daniel roared, his deep voice echoing like thunder against the marble walls.
He immediately crouched down, ignoring his expensive suit, and pulled the crying little girl protectively into his arms. Lily clung tightly to his neck, burying her face in his shoulder, still fiercely holding her little pink floral handbag.
Daniel glared up at his fiancée, fully prepared to call off the wedding right then and there.
But as he looked at Victoria, he noticed something deeply disturbing.
Victoria wasn't looking at him. She wasn't looking at Lily's tearful face. Her sharp blue eyes were locked obsessively onto the tiny pink handbag crushed between Daniel and his daughter. Victoria’s breathing quickened to a manic pace. The color violently drained from her flawless face.
She looked absolutely terrified.
Daniel frowned, his lethal instincts flaring. He gently pulled back and asked Lily to show him what was inside her purse.
Lily nervously raised the floral bag, her tiny fingers reaching for the golden clasp.
