Chapter 4 - The Dead Woman's Diamonds

Sitting inside the tiny pink purse, resting against a handful of wrapped candies, were two incredibly specific items.

The first was a cheap, prepaid black burner phone.

The second was a heavy, custom-designed platinum ring featuring a massive, flawless blue sapphire surrounded by crushed diamonds.

Daniel physically staggered backward, his dark eyes fixed on the jewelry. The cinematic realism of his sheer agony was suffocating.

That sapphire ring had belonged to his late wife, Sarah. Two years ago, Sarah had been killed in a horrific, unsolved hit-and-run accident on a dark coastal highway. When the police recovered her body from the wreckage, her wedding ring was completely missing. The authorities assumed a scavenger had stolen it from the crash site.

Daniel slowly reached into the pink purse and pulled the ring out. His tattooed hands shook violently.

He slowly raised his piercing dark eyes to Victoria, who was now hyperventilating in her luxurious white satin gown, backing away toward the crystal chandelier.

“Where did you get this, Lily?” Daniel asked, his voice deathly quiet.

Lily wiped her rosy cheeks, pointing a small, trembling finger directly at the terrified bride.

“I was playing hide-and-seek in her dressing room this morning,” Lily sniffled innocently. “I hid under the big vanity desk. She didn't see me. She opened a hole in the floor and took out the shiny ring and the phone.”

👉 Lily’s innocent game of hide-and-seek was about to expose a monster, but the story of how she got the ring was even more terrifying.
