Chapter 4 - The Missing Diamonds

Three days later, the mansion was thrown into absolute, chaotic panic.

Nora was in the grand kitchen, polishing the silver, when the blaring sound of the estate's internal security alarm echoed through the hallways. Four massive, heavily armed syndicate guards sprinted past the kitchen doors.

Nora’s blood ran cold. She immediately grabbed Ivy, pulling the four-year-old girl behind the marble island.

Moments later, Vivian burst into the kitchen, followed closely by Alex and the head of security. Vivian was hyperventilating, forcing dramatic, hysterical tears to stream down her face.

"It's gone!" Vivian shrieked, pointing wildly. "My two-million-dollar sapphire and diamond necklace! The one you bought me in Paris, Alex! It was locked in my vanity drawer this morning, and now it is completely gone!"

Alex’s jaw tightened. "Lock down the estate. Nobody leaves. Search every room."

"You don't need to search every room!" Vivian sneered, her tear-filled eyes locking directly onto Nora. "I saw her cleaning my master suite an hour ago! She was the only one in there! She stole it!"

Nora gasped, her hands flying to her mouth in absolute terror. "No! I swear to God, Mr. Alex, I didn't touch her jewelry! I was only dusting the bookshelves!"

"Liar!" Vivian screamed, stepping aggressively toward the terrified mother. "You are a broke, desperate rat! You stole my necklace to pawn it on the black market! Search her!"

Two massive guards immediately stepped forward, grabbing Nora by the arms.

"Please!" Nora begged, weeping hysterically as the guards patted down her black and white uniform. "I don't have it! I would never steal from this family!"

The guards checked her pockets. They found nothing.
