Chapter 4 - The Cruel Justification

Victoria realized the lie had completely collapsed. The elegant, sophisticated high-society woman vanished, leaving only a desperate, feral cornered animal.
"It was for the best, Leo!" Victoria shrieked, completely dropping her graceful facade. "She smells like medicine! She wanders the halls at night! We are hosting senators and CEOs, Leo! We can't have a senile old bat embarrassing us in front of our guests!"
Leo took a slow, deliberate step toward her. His towering, muscular frame completely eclipsed the woman in the red dress.
"A senile old bat," Leo whispered dangerously.
"She doesn't even know what day it is!" Victoria pleaded hysterically, backing away. "I was going to move her to a nursing home next week! I was doing you a favor! I am trying to elevate your brand!"
Leo didn't scream. He didn't strike her. The cinematic realism of his restraint made the moment chilling.
He slowly reached into the inside pocket of his black suit jacket. He pulled out a sleek, black smartphone.
"You think my mother is a burden," Leo said smoothly, his eyes dead and empty. "You think she is an embarrassment to my empire."
He hit a single button on his speed dial and put the phone on speaker, placing it firmly on the white tablecloth next to the shattered crystal.
"Marco," Leo said calmly into the phone.
"Yes, Boss," the gruff voice of his head of security answered instantly through the speaker.
"Lock down the estate," Leo ordered. "And bring the financial ledgers from Victoria's private study to the dining room."

Victoria let out a blood-curdling scream of pure terror. She lunged forward, trying to grab the phone, but Leo effortlessly caught her wrist in mid-air, twisting it just enough to drop her to her knees on the marble floor.
