Chapter 3 - The Deceptive Wife

Valeria was a master manipulator, a woman entirely consumed by an insatiable, toxic greed for absolute power and limitless wealth. She possessed absolutely zero empathy for the weak or the vulnerable.
She had never loved Luca, and she absolutely, vehemently despised Mrs. Moretti. Valeria knew that as long as the brilliant matriarch was alive, even in a compromised state, Valeria would never have absolute, unchecked access to the massive, hidden offshore accounts that funded the Moretti empire. The old woman's mere presence was a constant threat to Valeria's ultimate goal of complete financial dominance.
So, Valeria had actively, systematically isolated the elderly woman in the darkest corner of the mansion.
When Luca was away running the syndicate, Valeria completely dropped her loving, doting facade. She fired all the independent medical nurses and replaced them with young, easily intimidated maids who were too terrified to ask questions. More horrifyingly, Valeria took complete, dictatorial control of Mrs. Moretti’s daily medications.
She intentionally overmedicated the old woman, forcing heavy, toxic chemical sedatives down her throat to ensure that the matriarch remained completely weak, catatonic, and entirely incapable of making a miraculous recovery. Valeria would stand over the wheelchair, whispering cruel, agonizing insults into the old woman's ear, knowing Mrs. Moretti could hear every single word but was entirely paralyzed and unable to defend herself.
Valeria wanted the old woman to quietly rot away in her wheelchair so that she could eventually inherit the entire kingdom without ever getting her own hands bloody.
She constantly lied to her husband, telling Luca that his mother was deteriorating rapidly, that her mind was completely gone, and that it was far too painful and confusing for the old woman to be brought down to family gatherings. Valeria kept the matriarch locked in her bedroom like a dirty, shameful secret.
Valeria truly believed her massive, sinister deception was entirely flawless.
