Chapter 9 - The Horrifying Truth

Close-up: Tight shot on Valeria’s face.
The glamorous, arrogant Madam’s eyes widened to an absolutely comical, horrifying degree. The blood entirely, violently drained from her perfectly contoured face, leaving her looking paler than the white tablecloth. She stared at the old woman in the wheelchair in sheer, unadulterated terror and profound, paralyzing shock.
Her flawless, toxic deception had just been completely, spectacularly obliterated in front of the most dangerous men in the city.

"She poisoned me," Mrs. Moretti rasped, her voice growing slightly stronger, fueled by an absolute, burning, year-long fury. "The stroke was a lie. She drugged my tea. She kept me sedated with chemicals. She tried to kill me to steal your empire, my beautiful boy."
The revelation hit the grand dining room like a tactical explosive.
