Chapter 8 - The Broken Silence

Close-up: Tight, emotional shot on the Elderly Mother.

For twelve agonizing months, Mrs. Moretti had been trapped inside a heavy, toxic chemical fog, forced to listen to her cruel daughter-in-law insult her, steal from her, and slowly plot the complete destruction of her beloved son's empire. She had been forced to play dead while a venomous monster roamed freely through her halls.

But tonight, thanks to the brave young maid, her mind was finally, beautifully clear.

Mrs. Moretti’s frail, wrinkled face suddenly grimaced. The profound, overwhelming physical effort required to break through a year of induced paralysis and severe muscular atrophy was incredibly agonizing. The tendons in her neck strained visibly. Her pale, dry lips trembled violently as she forced her jaw to open, fighting against the heavy, lingering weakness in her throat with the sheer, unbreakable willpower of a true mafia queen.

The entire grand dining room plunged into an absolute, breathless vacuum of silence. Dozens of hardened criminals, elite socialites, and massive bodyguards stared in sheer, unadulterated disbelief as the impossible happened.

The matriarch opened her mouth to speak her very first words in a year.

"I need Luca," the Elderly Mother gasped. Her voice was incredibly weak, severely strained, and ragged from profound disuse, but the absolute, unquestionable authority and fierce love of the matriarch rang clearly through every single syllable.

The sound of her voice hit the room like a physical shockwave. Luca's eyes instantly filled with thick, overwhelming tears of pure joy and profound relief as he heard his mother speak his name.
