Chapter 3 - The Lethal Trap

"You don't understand what you're holding," Dominic breathed out, his chest heaving as the cold, dangerous facade of the mafia boss completely, violently shattered.

A tight close-up focused entirely on Dominic's face. The terrifying kingpin vanished, violently replaced by a desperate, overwhelmingly vulnerable man who was actively watching the woman he secretly loved balance on the edge of death.

"The floor around the box is rigged," Dominic explained, dropping his voice to a tense, extremely low whisper. "It's an explosive pressure plate. If you shift your weight, or if you try to stand up... the entire study will detonate."

Claire completely stopped breathing. The warm natural lighting of the grand mansion suddenly felt incredibly cold.

Her heart hammered violently against her ribs. She was kneeling directly on top of a highly volatile, military-grade explosive trap designed to kill anyone attempting to steal Dominic’s deepest secrets.

A medium close-up captured Claire’s trembling hands. In her absolute panic, her eyes finally dropped to the faded photograph she had pulled from the hidden compartment.

It wasn't a list of cartel contacts. It wasn't a ledger of stolen money or blackmail material against a rival boss.

👉 Claire stared at the photograph, realizing her entire life was a massive, calculated lie.
