Chapter 8 - The Cartel Slaughter

The cinematic realism of the chaotic, toxic aftermath was completely deafening.
Dozens of Dominic's heavily armed, fiercely loyal enforcers stormed into the grand study, completely securing the perimeter and dragging Marcus's lifeless body out of the hallway.
Dominic slowly stood up, refusing the medical team's assistance. He wrapped his strong, protective arm securely around Claire's trembling shoulders, pulling her flush against his side. The desperate, vulnerable man from the floor was completely gone, violently replaced by the terrifying, untouchable King of Chicago.
He pulled his encrypted cell phone from his ruined suit jacket.
"The Marcones tried to kill my family today," Dominic commanded flawlessly into the phone, his voice dropping to a freezing, lethal frequency. "I want their entire syndicate burned to the ground by midnight. Do not let a single one of them breathe."
"Understood, Boss," his elite strike team replied coldly.
Claire looked up at him, her heart hammering against her ribs. He had just declared an absolute, apocalyptic war solely to avenge her mother and protect her life.
