Chapter 2 - The Manager's Wrath

The beautiful, cinematic moment lasted exactly ten seconds.
Suddenly, a massive, aggressive commotion broke out near the catering doors. Mr. Vance, the fifty-year-old banquet manager, violently shoved his way through the crowd of shocked, wealthy guests.
He wore a sharp, expensive suit, but his face was dark purple with unhinged, pure unadulterated anger. He was a ruthless corporate tyrant who worshipped the elite guests and actively terrorized his serving staff.
Vance marched directly onto the dance floor. He didn't care about the music or the romance of the moment.
He aggressively grabbed Harlan’s shoulder, his fingers digging violently into the waiter’s black vest.
"Harlan!" Vance hissed, his voice a lethal, terrifying whisper meant to avoid a public shouting match, but dripping with absolute venom. "Come with me. Now."
Audrey gasped, her fragile smile completely vanishing. She instinctively pulled her hand away, shrinking back into her wheelchair, terrified that she had just gotten the kind waiter fired.
Harlan’s genuine smile slowly faded. He looked down at Audrey with deeply apologetic eyes, gently letting go of her hand.
Then, Harlan slowly turned around to face his furious manager. The soft, gentle waiter completely vanished. A cold, highly observant, and profoundly calm demeanor took over his face.
