Chapter 4 - The Manager's Mistake

"I told you to get your garbage and get out of my restaurant!" David snarled, aggressively yanking Emma’s arm, completely terrifying the young waitress. "You are fired! If you say one more word to my VIP guests, I will personally have you thrown in a police cruiser for theft!"

Emma let out a tiny, breathless gasp of pain as David’s massive fingers dug into her arm.

The heavy, warm amber lighting of the restaurant suddenly felt incredibly cold.

"Take your hand off her."

The command wasn't yelled. It was whispered with such absolute, terrifying, and demonic authority that the entire dining room seemed to instantly drop ten degrees.

David completely froze. He slowly turned his head, looking down at the man sitting in the black suit.

Roman hadn't moved. He was still sitting perfectly calm, his dark eyes locked entirely on the manager's hand gripping Emma's arm. The billionaire didn't look like a polite customer anymore. He radiated the crushing, undeniable, and lethal energy of an apex predator preparing to strike.

"Mr. Sterling," David stammered, instantly plastering on a fake, incredibly pathetic customer-service smile. He quickly let go of Emma’s arm, trying to smooth his tie. "I am so incredibly sorry for this disruption. This waitress was just terminated for stealing from the register. I was just escorting her off the premises so you could enjoy your Thanksgiving meal in peace."

Roman didn't blink. He slowly placed his crystal bourbon glass down on the crisp white tablecloth.
