Chapter 1 - The Homemade Tablecloth

The elegant dining room of the massive suburban estate was a cinematic display of wealth and flawless aesthetics. Warm, expensive lighting reflected off the polished silver cutlery and crystal wine glasses set perfectly across the massive wooden dining table. It was Thanksgiving dinner, and twenty of the city's most elite socialites and corporate executives were gathered to celebrate.
But the sophisticated, high-society atmosphere was violently shattered by a sickening display of public humiliation.
Vanessa, the thirty-something daughter-in-law with flawless blonde wavy hair, stood at the head of the table. She wore a stunning, fitted red designer dress and a heavy pearl necklace. Her face was twisted into a mask of pure, toxic disgust as she aggressively pointed a manicured finger directly at her mother-in-law, Eleanor.
Eleanor, a gentle woman in her sixties with silver-white hair and a simple white dress, was trembling violently.
She was clutching a beautifully hand-embroidered white tablecloth against her chest. She had spent the last three months carefully sewing it by hand as a loving, heartfelt Thanksgiving gift for Vanessa's new home. She had just gently draped it over the center of the large wooden table.
"Please don't touch my table!" Vanessa shrieked wildly, violently slapping Eleanor’s trembling hand away from the expensive wood. "I hired a professional designer to curate this aesthetic! Do you have any idea how cheap and pathetic that homemade rag looks next to my imported crystal?"
A tight close-up captured Eleanor fighting back tears. She looked down at the floor, completely humiliated in front of twenty wealthy strangers, and began frantically gathering the beautiful white fabric into her arms.

"I'm sorry," Eleanor whispered, her voice cracking with pure, agonizing heartbreak.
👉 Vanessa smirked triumphantly, entirely unaware that the quiet man sitting at the end of the table was about to unleash absolute hell.
