Chapter 6 - The Toxic Threat

"You can't evict us tonight!" Vanessa screamed aggressively, completely abandoning her sophisticated persona. She looked like a feral, desperate animal. "It's a federal holiday! We have thirty days by law! I will tie you up in civil court for years! I will drag your name through the mud!"
"You really don't understand who you're talking to, do you?" Robert asked softly.
He didn't hang up the phone. He looked directly at Vanessa, his dark eyes radiating pure, demonic power.
"Mr. Vance," the corporate attorney chimed in through the speaker. "The thirty-day eviction notice is legally bypassed if the tenant is actively engaged in criminal fraud."
Vanessa physically stopped breathing. The warm lighting of the dining room suddenly felt incredibly freezing.
"What fraud?!" Vanessa choked out, profound terror actively hijacking her mind.
"The massive credit card fraud you committed three months ago," Robert explained flawlessly, ensuring her wealthy corporate guests heard her complete destruction. "When Daniel cut off your spending limit, you secretly opened three platinum credit lines using my wife's social security number. You bought that red designer dress and that pearl necklace with money stolen directly from Eleanor."
Daniel whipped his head around, staring at his wife in absolute, breathless horror. "You stole my mother's identity?!"
