Chapter 9 - The Reclaimed Estate

Six months later, Vanessa was officially sentenced to ten years in a federal penitentiary for massive identity theft and fraud. Without her stolen money, she was entirely invisible, forced to rot in a concrete cell while the high-society world completely forgot her name.

Daniel lost absolutely everything. Without the massive suburban estate to hide behind, his corporate firm discovered his crushing, insurmountable debt and immediately fired him. He was completely bankrupt, forced to move into a tiny, rundown apartment, permanently alienated from the powerful father he had betrayed.

Robert and Eleanor thrived.

The massive suburban estate was completely cleaned and renovated. It wasn't a cold, arrogant monument to fake wealth anymore. It was a warm, beautiful, completely welcoming home.

The elegant dining room was filled with bright, natural sunlight.

Eleanor stood at the head of the large wooden table. She wasn't holding the beautiful embroidered white tablecloth against her chest anymore. It was perfectly, flawlessly spread across the center of the table, proudly displayed exactly where it belonged.
