Chapter 5 - The Sanctuary

Dante stood up slowly. The vulnerable, heartbroken father completely vanished, instantly replaced by the terrifying, apex predator of the underworld.

He unbuttoned his long black overcoat and draped it gently over Maya’s soaking wet shoulders, enveloping her and the baby in a cocoon of warmth.

"You don't need to wash dishes, Maya," Dante said softly, his voice thick with a profound, fierce vow of protection. "I am your family. And no one will ever touch you again."

He scooped both the seven-year-old and the baby effortlessly into his muscular arms.

Dante turned his lethal, dark gaze toward the sweating security guard. "You're fired. If I ever see your face in my city again, I'll have you buried under it."

Dante carried the girls directly into his private, secured elevator, ascending to the billionaire penthouse at the top of the skyscraper. Once inside the warm, luxurious suite, his private medical team immediately tended to the children. Warm milk was prepared, and dry clothes were brought in.
