Chapter 8 - The Ghost of the Alley

Dante snapped his fingers.

The heavy boardroom doors swung open again. Stepping into the room, flanked by two towering, elite syndicate bodyguards, was seven-year-old Maya.

She was no longer wearing the soaked pink coat and muddy boots. She wore a beautiful, warm blue dress, and in her arms, she held little Lily, who was cooing happily, completely safe and perfectly healthy.

All the color violently drained from Sarah’s face. The gold pen slipped from her trembling fingers, clattering loudly against the mahogany table.

"No..." Sarah gasped, stumbling backward until her legs hit her chair. "That's... that's impossible. They were..."

"They were what, Sarah?" Dante roared, his voice exploding like a bomb in the confined space.

The terrifying mafia boss grabbed the thick stack of inheritance documents and violently threw them across the room, scattering the fraudulent papers like confetti.

"You told me my daughter was dead!" Dante snarled, stepping into Sarah’s personal space, radiating an unfiltered, murderous fury. "You threw a seven-year-old child and a newborn baby into a freezing rainstorm to steal my money! You left them to starve!"
