Chapter 3 - The Ghostly Recognition

The elite security guards in the charcoal suits exchanged wide-eyed glances of sheer disbelief. No one ever touched the boss. No one ever made demands of him, especially not a tiny child in a cheap pink dress.
A tight close-up focused entirely on Dominic’s face. The ruthless, hardened expression that had terrorized the Chicago underworld for a decade suddenly cracked. The dark, lethal energy evaporated, violently replaced by a look of genuine, speechless shock.
He stared down at the little girl, his jaw slightly parted.
"Why?" Dominic asked quietly, his deep voice completely stripped of its usual deadly edge.
Sophie tilted her head, her messy braids falling over her small shoulders.
"Because I've never had a papa hug before," Sophie replied sweetly, completely unaware of the massive emotional bomb she had just dropped.
The cinematic realism of the moment was heavy and profound. The towering, undefeated mafia boss slowly lowered his massive frame. He didn't care about his expensive black suit. He dropped directly onto one knee on the hard marble floor, bringing himself perfectly down to the child’s level.
He gently reached out and pulled the little girl into his massive arms.

But as he hugged Sophie, Dominic slowly raised his head. His dark eyes shifted past the little girl, locking directly onto Claire, who was still frozen in absolute terror against the wall.
👉 Claire felt the blood in her veins turn to absolute ice as she realized the mafia boss had just recognized her face.
