Chapter 8 - The Traitor Exposed
"Marcus lied to me every single day for four years," Dominic whispered, the cold, quiet wrath of the mafia boss fully awakened. "He watched me grieve you, and he smiled."
"Where is he?" Claire asked, terrified the traitor was still in the building.
"I've spent the last four weeks systematically dismantling Marcus's entire faction," Dominic stated, completely devoid of mercy. "I didn't just fire him. I stripped him of his wealth. I seized his offshore accounts. And last night, I handed him over to the federal authorities with enough irrefutable evidence to lock him in a concrete cell for the rest of his miserable life."
Dominic stepped closer, his dark eyes locking onto hers with an intense, unbreakable vow.
"The war is over, Claire," Dominic promised. "The empire is entirely legitimate now. The cartels are gone. I bought this massive estate because I wanted a fortress where no one could ever hurt me again. I just didn't know you were already inside."
Claire stared at him, her mind completely short-circuiting. The violent, terrifying world she had run from had been completely eradicated by the man standing in front of her.
