Chapter 3 - The Polite Stranger

Before the blonde woman could bring her hand down to strike Nora across the face, a tall, forty-something Asian man in a sharp black suit jacket and crisp white shirt stepped smoothly in from the right side of the table.
He moved with absolute, silent grace, projecting an aura of terrifying, unbreakable calm.
He didn't grab the blonde woman's wrist. He didn't shout. He simply smiled politely, entirely ignoring the socialite’s raised hand. He stepped directly between her and Nora, gently taking the silver tray with the glass of water from Nora's hands.
He turned and bowed slightly, serving the glass directly to the elderly woman in the wheelchair.
The older woman took the glass with trembling hands, taking a long, desperate sip of the cool water. She looked up, her expression softening for the first time all evening.
"Thank you, Nora," the older woman smiled gently.
The blonde woman was practically hyperventilating with rage. She felt completely invisible. She turned her furious glare back to Nora, refusing to let the humiliation go.
"You think this performance makes you important?" the blonde woman mocked bitterly, looking down at Nora with absolute disgust. "You think serving a glass of water makes you a hero to a senile old bat?"
A tight close-up captured Nora standing face-to-face with the monster in the silver sequin gown. Nora stared back entirely fearlessly.

"No," Nora replied quietly, her voice ringing with titanium strength. "I think water makes her less thirsty."
👉 The socialite sneered at the waitress's simplicity, entirely unaware of exactly who the polite Asian man was.
