Chapter 7 - The Financial Guillotine

"Get off me!" Victoria screamed like a feral animal, her perfectly styled blonde hair falling into her face as Agent Chen violently slapped heavy steel handcuffs onto her wrists. "My husband will destroy you! He controls the Sterling fortune!"
Mrs. Sterling looked down at the weeping, pathetic monster pinned to the table.
"Your husband controls absolutely nothing," Mrs. Sterling stated coldly.
Victoria froze, her cheek pressed against the spilled water on the tablecloth.
"While you were busy threatening the waitress," Mrs. Sterling explained, her voice echoing with absolute, titanium authority, "I authorized the immediate liquidation of your husband's corporate assets. The entire trust has been transferred to a secure, locked charitable foundation."
Victoria’s eyes widened in sheer, paralyzing horror.
"You and my son are completely, permanently bankrupt," Mrs. Sterling continued, entirely devoid of any human mercy. "Your credit cards are frozen. Your mansions are seized. You have exactly zero dollars to your name. You killed for a fortune that no longer exists."
Victoria let out a guttural, agonizing wail, thrashing wildly against the federal agent. She hadn't just failed the assassination; she had completely destroyed her own billionaire lifestyle. She was going to spend the rest of her life rotting in a federal prison with absolutely nothing.
Agent Chen yanked Victoria roughly to her feet. He didn't let her adjust her ruined dress. He dragged the screaming, humiliated socialite directly through the center of the grand event hall, parading her in front of every single elite, wealthy guest she had tried to impress.
