Chapter 8 - The Father's Roar

Evelyn shrieked in absolute, unadulterated terror.

The glamorous, arrogant stepmother violently stumbled backward, her beige high heels slipping on the spilled salad dressing as the heavy dark wood table crashed to the floor just inches away from her expensive burgundy silk dress. She threw her hands up, her eyes wide with profound, paralyzing shock.

She had never, ever seen her sophisticated, calm, corporate husband act with such terrifying, explosive physical violence.

"Michael, have you lost your mind?!" Evelyn shrieked in an absolutely panicked, hysterical voice, staring at the ruined, shattered remains of her gourmet dinner scattered completely across the room. "What is wrong with you?! Look at what you've done to my dining room!"

Michael didn't look at the shattered plates. He slowly turned his head, locking his blazing, furious eyes entirely onto his trembling wife.

The tall, handsome father pointed a shaking finger directly at the woman he had foolishly trusted to protect his child.

"If my daughter eats on the floor," Michael roared furiously, his incredibly deep, powerful voice shaking the very foundation of the massive dining room, completely drowning out Evelyn's pathetic complaints, "nobody eats at this table! Nobody!"

Evelyn backed away, her toxic bravado completely, entirely shattered by the sheer magnitude of his protective wrath. "Michael, you don't understand, she's been a nightmare—"

"Shut your mouth!" Michael bellowed, completely cutting off her manipulative lies. "You think I don't know exactly what you are? You think you're the first person to try and lie to my face?"
