Chapter 9 - The Absolute Judgment

Richard slowly turned his entire body toward the wreckage of the room.

He looked at his thirty-eight-year-old son, Mark, bleeding pathetically among the shattered crystal glasses and broken decorative sleds. He looked at Claudia, whimpering in her ruined, elegant winter dress beside the overturned gift-wrapping table, surrounded by unraveled paper and crushed bows.

The grief of learning his daughter-in-law was murdered completely evaporated into the warm air of the lodge, instantly and violently replaced by the cold, ruthless, and absolutely absolute authority of a veteran Mafia boss passing a final execution order.

He walked slowly toward them, his polished leather shoes crunching menacingly over the broken glass.

"A small punishment?" Richard asked. His deep voice was quiet, incredibly lethal, and completely devoid of any paternal mercy. The absolute silence in the room made the quiet words sound louder than a thunderstorm. "I’ve got a small punishment for you too."

Mark and Claudia looked up at the terrifying patriarch, exchanging a frantic, breathless, and completely terrified glance as they finally realized the catastrophic, fatal magnitude of their actions.

Richard didn't pull a weapon. He didn't need to. He simply raised his heavily tattooed hand, gesturing sharply to the dozens of elite, heavy-set bodyguards surrounding the room.

"Strip them of their coats, their jewelry, and their shoes," Richard commanded coldly, looking down at his son with utter disgust. "Take every single dime from their accounts and freeze the trusts. Then, throw them exactly as they are out the front gates into the freezing wilderness. If they survive the night, they are permanently exiled from this family. If anyone in this room helps them, I will bury you next to them."
